Infrared Heat Lamps for Commercial Foodservice

A commercial heat lamp keeps finished dishes at proper serving temperature on the pass-thru between the kitchen and the dining room, at buffet lines, and at front-of-house carving stations. Infrared heat lamps warm food directly without heating the surrounding air, which makes them more energy-efficient than enclosed warming equipment and better suited to open stations where airflow is a factor. We offer commercial heat lamps from American Metalcraft, Eagle Group, Eastern Tabletop, Globe, Hatco, Nemco, Spring USA, Thunder Group, and Winco, spanning countertop, hanging bar, and pendant styles with adjustable, fixed, flexible, and swivel arm configurations.

Countertop Heat Lamps

Countertop heat lamps are the most common configuration for restaurant pass-thrus and expo lines. They sit on the shelf or counter surface and position one or more infrared bulbs above the food below. Single-bulb models are suited to smaller passes and a la carte stations, while multi-bulb models spanning three to eight bulbs provide broader coverage for high-volume operations and banquet lines. Arm styles range from fixed positions to adjustable and flexible gooseneck arms that allow fine-tuning of the lamp height and angle to match the height of plated dishes or pan depths below.

Hanging and Pendant Heat Lamps

Hanging bar lamps and pendant lamps mount from above -- either ceiling-hung or suspended from an overhead structure -- and are commonly used at carving stations, buffet lines, and front-of-house chef's table presentations. This style keeps the counter surface completely clear, which is an important consideration at attended buffet and carving setups where staff need unobstructed working space below the lamp. Multi-bulb hanging suspension bar configurations can cover longer spans and are sized by bulb count to match the length of the station below.

Bulb Count and Wattage

Bulb count and total wattage determine how much coverage and heat intensity a lamp delivers. Single-bulb 250-watt units are appropriate for a small plating station or a single-dish pass. Dual and triple-bulb models in the 500 to 750-watt range cover standard hotel pans and are the most practical choice for typical restaurant expo lines. Higher wattage configurations with four to eight bulbs are used on extended buffet lines and high-volume banquet operations where consistent temperature across a wider span is required. Matching wattage to the size of your station prevents cold spots at the edges and avoids overheating at the center.

What to Consider Before You Buy

The primary decision points are mounting style, arm adjustability, and bulb count relative to your station size. Countertop models are easier to reposition if your layout changes, while ceiling-mounted and pendant styles offer a cleaner look for front-of-house use. Adjustable and flexible arms are worth prioritizing for pass-thrus where dish heights vary across a menu.
