Garland Commercial Ranges, Griddles & Cooking Equipment
Garland has been in the stove business since 1864, when the Barbour family opened a foundry in Detroit that became Detroit Stove Works. In 1871, brothers Jeremiah and James Dwyer opened the Michigan Stove Company in the same city and put the Garland name on more than 200 stoves and ranges. The World's Largest Stove display carried that name to the 1893 World's Fair. In 1953 a dedicated commercial plant, Garland Commercial Ranges Ltd., opened in Mississauga, Ontario, and since 2010 every Garland product has been built there. The brand is now a Welbilt brand in the Ali Group, after Ali's 2022 purchase of Welbilt. At GoFoodservice, we offer Garland commercial ranges, griddles, fryers, ovens, and broilers for restaurants, hotels, schools, and institutional kitchens.
- Gas and electric restaurant ranges for the heavy cookline that runs breakfast through late service
- Countertop ranges, griddles, and charbroilers including drop-in and teppanyaki styles that add grill or burner space without a new suite
- Gas and electric fryers for fries, wings, and other high-volume fried items
- Convection ovens and pizza deck ovens for bake, roast, and pizza programs
- Salamanders, cheese melters, and stock pot ranges that finish plates or run stock on the end of the line
- Dual-platen and clamshell grills plus the release sheets that keep high-volume sandwich and burger stations moving
Hotel and institutional kitchens buy Garland because the range battery has to survive every meal period, not just a dinner rush. The same family of equipment then fills the gaps: a countertop fryer when the suite is already full, a pizza deck when the menu adds pies, a salamander when plates need a finish.
Julia Child cooked on a Garland at home from 1956, and that range is now part of the Smithsonian's collection. The commercial line carries the same name, built today at the Mississauga plant for restaurants and hotels that want a range battery with more than 150 years behind it.
