What Are the Best Flooring Choices for New Restaurants?

Nearly 75% of individuals surveyed stated that they would not go to a restaurant if their friends provided a negative feedback on it. From the food to the ambiance of your restaurant, every detail counts when looking to receive positive reviews. When planning a new restaurant, the design elements are crucial in creating a positive dining experience for guests; and, one of the most essential design elements is flooring. Since stylish, clean floors can enhance the overall environment for your customers, it is important to choose well. In addition to making a solid impression on your guests, selecting flooring that is durable enough to handle commercial restaurant equipment and heavy foot traffic is also of top priority. If you are opening a restaurant in the near future, explore three of the best flooring options.

Luxury vinyl flooring

One of the most popular flooring choices in restaurants is luxury vinyl flooring. The benefits of installing this option is that it can provide a versatile look for any decor, it is ideal for heavy foot traffic (because it is so durable), and it can hold up to bringing in all kinds of heavy commercial equipment. This is also a type of flooring that is easy to buffer. In any restaurant, food and beverage spills are inevitable. Scratches from equipment, and from daily wear, are also a certainty. That is why it is so crucial to have floors that can be buffered to look brand new. Additionally, if you are on a tight budget for your new restaurant, luxury vinyl is one of the most cost-effective choices. It is quick to install and is sure to make an amazing impression on your customers.

Eco-friendly flooring choices

Planning to open a vegan, vegetarian, or eco-conscious restaurant? If so, it is wise to use flooring that is in line with your restaurant’s values. Nowadays, there are many exceptional flooring choices that are sustainable, and that are not made with harsh chemicals. Bamboo flooring is one of the best choices for a restaurant for several reasons. First, in addition to being eco-friendly, bamboo floors are easy to maintain. This includes short-term cleaning of spills and messes, as well as long-term care. Another advantage of having bamboo floors is that they are durable and water-resistant. These qualities are absolutely necessary for a restaurant environment, where heavy foot traffic, moving of restaurant equipment, and food/supply deliveries are the daily norm.

Engineered hardwood

Love the look of hardwood, but don’t have the budget or time to maintain the real thing? Engineered hardwood provides the same look at a fraction of the price. It is also easier to maintain than real hardwood. This flooring choice is known for being durable, appealing to the eye, able to resist scratches and stains, and budget-friendly. Also, if you are in an area that experiences high humidity or frequent changes in temperature, engineered hardwood can hold up to these kinds of conditions. Installation is relatively easy, and floorboards can be installed on top of pre-existing flooring in your restaurant.

When planning the design of your new restaurant, the flooring you choose is important for aesthetic and practical reasons. Depending on your needs and budget, the above recommendations are sure to deliver an appealing look and stay in good condition for years to come.

Thanks for the interesting article guys. I wanted add a little bit to your section about Luxury Vinyl, talking specifically about Luvury Vinyl Plank (LVP). You said that it was a great option for aesthetics, and I totally agree. The very cheap price also makes that front even more attractive. You also mentioned since it's relatively easy to buff, you don't have to worry about spills and mishaps ruining the look. In addition to this, LVP is completely impervious to water! Ideal for spills!
