Lapaco began in 1950 as the Lachine Paper Company, founded by tool designer René Derail, who built machinery to make paper placemats, tray covers, and doilies. The company later moved to Sainte-Catherine, Quebec, took the Lapaco name, and joined the Hoffmaster Group in 2015, where it continues to make disposable tabletop and bakery products.
